LinkMemo Privacy Policy


LinkMemo establishes the following privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as “this Policy”) regarding the handling of users’ personal information in the services provided on this application (hereinafter referred to as “the Service”).

Article 1 (Personal Information)

“Personal information” refers to “personal information” as defined by the Personal Information Protection Act, and refers to information about a living individual that can identify a specific individual by name, date of birth, address, phone number, contact information, or other descriptions, as well as data related to appearance, fingerprints, voiceprints, and the insurer number on a health insurance card (personal identification information).

Article 2 (Methods of Collecting Personal Information)

LinkMemo may ask for personal information such as name, date of birth, address, phone number, email address, bank account number, credit card number, and driver’s license number when users register to use the Service. In addition, LinkMemo may collect transaction records and payment information that include personal information from LinkMemo’s business partners (including information providers, advertisers, ad distributors, etc.; hereinafter referred to as “partners”).

Article 3 (Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information)

LinkMemo collects and uses personal information for the following purposes:

  • To provide and operate the LinkMemo service
  • To respond to inquiries from users (including verifying identity)
  • To send emails about new features, updates, campaigns, and other services provided by LinkMemo
  • To contact users as necessary for maintenance, important notices, etc.
  • To identify users who violate the terms of use or attempt to use the service for fraudulent or improper purposes, and to refuse their use
  • To allow users to view, change, delete, and view their usage status of their registered information
  • To charge users for fees in paid services
  • For purposes incidental to the above purposes

Article 4 (Changes to the Purpose of Use)

LinkMemo shall change the purpose of use of personal information only when it is reasonably recognized that the purpose of use is related to the purpose before the change. If the purpose of use is changed, LinkMemo shall notify the user of the changed purpose by the prescribed method or publicly announce it on this website.

Article 5 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)

LinkMemo will not provide personal information to third parties without the prior consent of the user, except in the following cases and except as otherwise permitted by the Personal Information Protection Act and other laws and regulations:

  • When it is necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property, and it is difficult to obtain the person’s consent
  • When it is particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound upbringing of children, and it is difficult to obtain the person’s consent
  • When it is necessary to cooperate with a government agency, local government, or their contractor in performing duties prescribed by law, and obtaining the person’s consent may interfere with the performance of those duties
  • When the following items have been notified or publicly announced in advance, and LinkMemo has submitted a notification to the Personal Information Protection Commission:
    • The purpose of use includes providing to third parties
    • The items of data provided to third parties
    • The means or method of providing to third parties
    • The provision of personal information to third parties will be stopped upon the request of the person
    • The method for accepting requests from the person

Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the following cases do not fall under the provision of personal information to third parties:

  • When LinkMemo entrusts all or part of the handling of personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose of use
  • When personal information is provided as a result of a merger or other business succession
  • When personal information is shared with a specific person, and the person is notified in advance, or the person can easily learn about the fact of sharing, the items of personal information to be shared, the scope of the sharing parties, the purpose of use by the sharing parties, and the name or title of the person responsible for the management of the personal information

Article 6 (Disclosure of Personal Information)

When LinkMemo is requested by the user to disclose personal information, LinkMemo will disclose it to the user without delay. However, if the disclosure falls under any of the following, LinkMemo may not disclose all or part of the information, and if a decision is made not to disclose it, LinkMemo will notify the user without delay. A fee of 1,000 yen will be charged per request for the disclosure of personal information.

  • When there is a risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the user or a third party
  • When there is a risk of significant interference with the proper conduct of LinkMemo’s business
  • When it would violate other laws and regulations Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, LinkMemo will not, in principle, disclose information other than personal information, such as history information and characteristic information.

Article 7 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

If a user’s personal information held by LinkMemo is incorrect, the user may request LinkMemo to correct, add, or delete the personal information (hereinafter referred to as “corrections, etc.”) by the procedures specified by LinkMemo. If LinkMemo determines that it is necessary to respond to the user’s request, LinkMemo shall make the corrections, etc. to the personal information without delay. If LinkMemo makes corrections, etc. based on the provisions of the preceding paragraph, or decides not to make corrections, etc., LinkMemo will notify the user without delay.

Article 8 (Suspension of Use of Personal Information, etc.)

If LinkMemo is requested by the user to suspend or delete the use of personal information (hereinafter referred to as “suspension of use, etc.”) on the grounds that the personal information is being handled beyond the scope of the purpose of use, or that it was obtained by fraudulent means, LinkMemo will conduct the necessary investigation without delay. Based on the results of the investigation, if LinkMemo determines that it is necessary to respond to the request, LinkMemo shall suspend the use of the personal information, etc. without delay. If LinkMemo suspends the use of personal information, etc., or decides not to suspend the use, etc., LinkMemo will notify the user without delay. Notwithstanding the preceding two paragraphs, if suspension of use, etc. involves a large amount of costs or is otherwise difficult to implement, and if it is possible to take alternative measures necessary to protect the rights and interests of the user, LinkMemo shall take these alternative measures.

Article 9 (Changes to the Privacy Policy)

The contents of this Policy may be changed without notifying the user, except for matters otherwise provided in this Policy or by law. Unless otherwise specified by LinkMemo, the revised privacy policy shall take effect when posted on this website.
